Position: Social Media Marketing Specialist, Part-Time
Starting Date: Immediate
Hours: 20-24 hours per month
Compensation: $17-20 /hour (dependent on experience)
Commitment: 1 year
Location: Flexibly remote, with some on-site visits required to the Home Orchard Education Center Community Orchard (Oregon City, OR)
Position Description: Home Orchard Education Center is looking for a creative, driven Social Media Marketing Specialist to join our team. You’ll develop and implement engaging content strategies, and showcase the magic happening at our Community Orchard. We host at least 30 workshops and three major events each year! We need someone who can not only raise awareness of our offerings but also boost sales and contribute to donor outreach. This part-time role offers flexible hours and a chance to build your marketing skills while making a meaningful impact.
Position Duties
The Social Media Marketing Specialist works closely with the Executive Director (ED) and Website & Data Specialist to execute the following duties:
Create, post, and/or pre-schedule content for at least six days a week across all HOEC social media platforms to support the organization’s goals, as directed by the ED
Design graphics, link, and share Facebook Events for all HOEC Workshops and other events
Write copy and provide images for monthly newsletter, and grow subscriber base
Monitor and reply to comments, queries, and online communications in a timely manner
Track KPIs and analyze metrics to improve performance
Make monthly in-person visits to the HOEC Community Orchard for the purpose of taking photos for use in social media or promotional materials
Provide communications support for the Orchard CSA program
Support the Executive Director in strategizing and seeking out new and additional marketing, fundraising, networking, and outreach possibilities as needed.
Represent the organization in a professional, accurate manner in alignment with HOEC’s mission and values.
Create and maintain a supportive and healthy environment for all staff, program members, and participants, protecting a positive community culture.
Required Skills
Eligible applicants will have:
Experience and strong skills with social media platforms and tools (Facebook, Instagram, Biosites, and Meta Business Suite primarily)
Experience with Canva and strong graphic and visual design skills (for the purpose of creating graphics, audio and video content, reels, print media, and exporting content to associated file formats)
The ability to make at least one in-person visit per month to the HOEC Community Orchard (in Oregon City) in order to take photos of orchard activities for use in promotional and marketing materials.
Familiarity with Google Drive and G-Suite (Docs, Sheets, Forms, etc.) preferred

Eligible applicants will be:
Friendly, social, and outgoing, with a passion for connecting people to resources.
Able to connect in a positive manner with others online.
Independent, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a primarily remote position.
Strong written communicators.
Excellent visual creators, able to utilize diverse tools to create graphics, videos, reels, and other content for marketing and educational purposes.
Involved with complimentary groups or organizations, such as gardening groups, fruit-growing groups, neighborhood and community groups, school or scouting groups, etc. and/or is self-motivated to seek out new students, volunteers, customers, and donors in creative ways.
Comfortable with online sales and promotion.
Have a genuine interest in organic gardening, horticulture, and/or orcharding.

About HOEC:
The Home Orchard Education Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit based on a 1.6-acre, mature, mixed species Community Orchard located in Clackamas County, Oregon. HOEC offers horticulture education, volunteer opportunities, a venue for intergenerational connection, and fruit-focused CSA (“Community Supported Agriculture”) programs within a unique Community Orchard setting. This special gathering place is a humming hive of community collaboration, and serves as the a hub for the distribution of fresh, local, naturally grown fruit.
